With all the changes and advancements that are made on social media websites, it’s interesting to find out who still goes to the sites to get their news. Recently, Facebook had a crackdown on fake news so a lot of people turned to different sites to get caught up. A new survey that was conducted by Pew Research shows how many users on the different social sites are using them as their source of news. According to the survey, 68% of the respondents said that they got caught up on news through social media channels at least sometimes. The poll was started on July 30, 2018 and ended on August 12, 2018. It examined the demographics and habits of individuals regarding their consumption of news from various channels including T.V., online sites, print magazines or newspapers or from social media sites. Consumers of news from social media platforms were then asked various questions to gain more insight into their behaviours and habits. The most popular website for news consumption continues to be Facebook with YouTube coming in second followed by Twitter in third place. Across the board, respondents replied that while they did not always believe everything they read on social sites they head to them because these websites are a very convenient way to get caught up on the all of the latest news.
