How to Create a Strong and Interactive Presence on Social Sites

No matter what type of business you are running, you need to start engaging with others on social media sites. It is here that you can create the messages that you want to send out to your potential and existing customers. It’s not just enough to create your own profile and then send out a few posts once in a while though. You need to engage with your audience through interactive and interesting stories and information that will make people stand up and take notice. Types of Content Your presence all boils down to how well you know your target market and understand their wants and needs. This involves taking a look at the most popular social sites for your niche along with your audience to determine what they are expecting in terms of media content. In some fields you’ll be able to connect better with your customers through text while others will become more engaged when they see videos and photos. Various Platforms You should be using multiple social platforms to reach out to people and the content on each site should be unique. When you start recycling your content your presence starts to become boring and you’ll find that your audience is looking elsewhere. You need to consider every social site as a brand new experience with different methods of communication. If you are using Snapchat or Instagram, for example, you’ll want to be posting pictures while if you’re on Twitter or Facebook you can offer text or visual media. Interaction You should always interact with your audience by replying to their comments or at least by hitting the “Like” button. If you simply make a post and then walk away from it forever, users will notice and will not bother making any further comments. The Competition One of the best ways to find out what your customers are relating to on the social media sites is to look at the competition. Study a few of your most successful competitors to find out what they are posting, when they are making their comments and how they are following up with their audiences. When you study a few of them you’ll see some similarities in the way they are handling their social networks. This is valuable information that can help you build an engaging presence on social media sites. F.L.U.F.F: Friendly Lighthearted User Friendly Features

We all know that when it comes to social media marketing, content is king. We at Qode Social can appreciate a solid meme, a trending news story, and the beauty in a well-edited Instagram photo. These are all examples of what we call FLUFF content. FLUFF is an anagram we created that means Friendly Lighthearted User Friendly Features- clever, right? So leave that lint roller at home, because your business needs FLUFF. Basically, FLUFF content is the content you incorporate into your social media marketing strategy that humanizes your brand, and engages your audience. When you are trying to market to people on social media, you need to talk the talk, and walk the walk. That means you need to share content that they will find interesting, funny, or engaging in any other way, without it being direct marketing of your business. The truth is that people on social media do not like to be marketed at; if your business displays social media savvy, with knowledge of the nuances and trends of social media platforms, your audience will be attracted to this authenticity. Here are some examples of FLUFF content: Memes: memes are a wonderful byproduct of people on the internet finding something funny, and creating a graphic with it. Memes can be text-based, or image based. Blog articles: incorporating FLUFF blog articles into your content strategy involves writing articles on topics that will grab people’s attention. Appealing visuals: sharing eye-catching visual content with your audience is another great way to engage, and share your company’s creativity. We clean up nice! One of our designers on the day of our event with @google #digitalmarketing #inspire #entrepreneurship A photo posted by Qode Social (@qodesocial) on Dec 2, 2016 at 1:39pm PST FLUFF is not only fun to share, it is also a strategy for driving engagement with your audience. FLUFF is a way to convey authenticity with your social brand, and to establish a social tone that appeals to your target audience. When you share content people will enjoy, they will be more receptive to posts marketing your business. Again, social media marketing is very nuanced- users will not connect with a brand or company using it strictly for marketing themselves. When you listen to your audience, and mirror back content that they will enjoy, it boosts engagement and makes your marketing efforts resonate with your target audience. It’s 2017, and your business has to be on social media to be considered legit. This is why you hire the pros at Toronto social media marketing management company, Qode Social. We know social media marketing, because we live it. Give us a call today at 416-226-0563 to get your social media game on point (and if you don’t know what that means, you definitely need our...

Facebook Wants You to Watch Longer Videos

Facebook Wants You to Watch Longer Videos

Facebook is implementing a new change- and it affects  how videos are being ranked in your News Feed. While it’s only a minor tweak, it’s a move that could affect businesses using the social media platform for video advertising. Facebook has previously been favouring publishers of videos with one view if a video was watched for at least three seconds. For this reason, many short videos have been appearing that were designed to grab the user’s attention right away. This has been a shortcoming, however, since videos automatically play when they show up in a user’s feed and many video producers have noticed that the completion rates for their videos can be quite low. While the company is still favouring videos with a view after only a few short seconds, the algorithm for the news feed is also emphasizing longer videos- if people watch the entire length of them. This will also impact longer videos that are being watched by people even if they aren’t viewed till the end. More weight will be put on how long a video is actually being watched, instead of just the percentage watched. These new changes will apply to videos appearing in the Suggested Videos section as well as in the News Feed. As a result, a new video advertising format for video clips that are a minimum of 90 seconds long is being rolled out. Facebook has said that the longer videos that actually have people watching for a longer time span may see an increased distribution on the site. Although Facebook has not given an exact definition of a “long” video, the company’s news blog states that the best video length is whatever time is required to tell an engaging, compelling story. These new changes are going to be gradually rolled out over the course of the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you’ve been producing videos based on the three-second rule, you may want to rethink your strategy. If you have an engaging longer video that you think people will watch, don’t be afraid to add it to your Facebook repertoire. You may be rewarded for it! Social Media for Recruiting Millennials

If you’re looking for millennial talent to add to your employee base, social media is a great tool to use to find them. It’s estimated that 86% of the people that have been working for 10 years or less are using social media to research employers and to find jobs. Social media should definitely be considered as a prime tool for your recruitment efforts. Here are some tips you can use to reach out to millennials using social media to generate a favourable response. The Popular Media Platforms for Millennials While Twitter and Facebook are definitely popular platforms for millennial’s, don’t ignore Snapchat and Instagram. The majority of the younger crowd are hanging out there as well and using it as a tool to find new employment opportunities. Build Relationships You don’t need to wait for younger people to be looking for jobs before starting new relationships with them. It’s easy to connect with the millennials that are in your industry through networking sites like LinkedIn. Get on their radar early so they’ll know who to contact when they are ready to look for a new job. Targeted Facebook Ads Use Facebook as part of your recruiting efforts by putting up targeted ads. You’ll be able to reach scores of qualified potential employees this way. Use the “occupational targeting” setting to make sure that your ads are reaching Facebook members that are in the same industry. Make it Visual You can create interesting recruitment ads by simply making them visual. Videos and pictures of your staff or a visual presentation of the office space will help share the story of your services and products. Create a more meaningful impact with your ads through the use of infographics to generate more interest in your job postings. Receive Feedback Millennials generally tend to be concerned about the morals of a company and want to be closely associated with companies providing superior products and great customer service. For this reason, it’s important to keep track of your branding reputation online by checking out review websites such as Yelp. This way you can find out what others are saying about your business. You can bet your bottom dollar that millennials will be checking out your company on the internet to find out everything they can about it before submitting their resumes.
